WHEN THE BREATH BECOMES THE WAY IN

We breathe throughout our lives, yet rarely pause to understand the breath or listen to what it reveals.

This retreat is for those who wish to move beyond practising breathing techniques mechanically and begin exploring the deeper relationship between breath, prana, nervous system, mind, and awareness.

To Understand Pranayama More Deeply

For those who have practised breathing exercises but still want to understand how pranayama works, why it matters, and how it prepares the mind for meditation.

To Restore Balance Through the Breath

For those experiencing stress, mental restlessness, low energy, emotional imbalance, or a feeling of disconnection from their natural rhythm.

To Deepen an Existing Yoga Practice

For yoga students, teachers, therapists, healers, and practitioners who want to refine their understanding of prana and bring greater clarity, sensitivity, and steadiness into their practice.

THE MEANING OF SOHAM

So with the Inhale. Ham with the Exhale.

The name Soham means I am That. It is traditionally understood as the natural mantra already moving within the breath.

So accompanies the inhale—the act of receiving breath, life, and the present moment.

Ham accompanies the exhale—the act of releasing, softening, and letting go.

Together, the breath becomes more than a physical movement. It becomes a quiet reminder to return to awareness.

During this retreat, pranayama is approached in the same spirit: not as something to force, but as something to observe, refine, and gradually understand.

Core Elements of the Retreat

How the Practice Deepens Over Ten Days

The retreat unfolds gradually. It begins by preparing the body, observing the natural breath, and developing sensitivity to its rhythm. From this foundation, classical pranayama practices are introduced, refined, and integrated with meditation, philosophy, Yoga Nidra, mantra, sound, and personal guidance.

The purpose is not to force the breath, hold it for long periods, or pursue intense experiences. The emphasis is on safety, steadiness, awareness, and a direct understanding of how breath influences the body, nervous system, prana, emotions, and mind.

Hatha Yoga

Daily morning practice to open the body, build steadiness, improve awareness, and prepare the system for deeper inner work through gentle, alignment-aware, and accessible movement.

Pranayama & Kriya

Classical breathwork and cleansing practices to purify the system, regulate energy, steady the mind, and support a deeper, calmer, and more balanced inner state.

Yoga Nidra

A guided practice of conscious rest that helps the body soften, the mind settle, and deeper layers of tension release. Through Yoga Nidra, many students experience profound relaxation, emotional ease, and deeper sleep during the retreat.

Yoganga Healing

A personal healing session with Sunil ji, beginning with written reflection and guided inner observation to support release, clarity, self-understanding, and inner stillness.

Sound Healing

Two sound healing sessions use vibration, sound, and deep listening to invite the body into stillness, support energetic balance, and quiet the mind.

Yogic Philosophy

Afternoon philosophy sessions bring yogic wisdom into daily life, helping students understand mind, emotions, awareness, suffering, practice, and inner freedom with clarity.

Meet Your Lead Teacher

Sunil Sharma

Sunil Sharma is the founder of Yoganga Healing and the guiding teacher of the Pranayama Healing Retreat. His work brings together classical yoga, pranayama, meditation, yogic philosophy, and psychological understanding. He does not teach pranayama as a collection of techniques, but as a way of understanding how breath reflects the condition of the body, nervous system, emotions, energy, and mind.

His presence is calm, attentive, and deeply grounded. Rather than pushing students toward intense experiences, he guides each participant according to their capacity—preparing the body, refining the breath, balancing prana, and helping the mind settle naturally. Through his guidance, pranayama becomes a practice of listening, inner understanding, and return to stillness.
